Enabling Customer Independence through Innovation

Ever since radiology began its transition from analog to digital image acquisition, nearly every healthcare organization has deployed a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) or digital imaging equipment for electronically storing reports and images. Despite this progress, there are several pervasive issues that many healthcare organizations still need to overcome.

First, organizations must manage massive amounts of imaging data in various formats and structures gathered from disparate service lines, specialties, facilities, and geographic locations. Second, since integrated solutions enabling seamless interoperability have grown more affordable and accessible over the years, healthcare providers’ desire for such solutions has also heightened with each passing day. Many seek to bridge independent silos of imaging information into a comprehensive enterprise imaging solution, providing a unified patient record for clinicians while simultaneously lowering costs.

This is precisely where another critical challenge surfaces. Whenever healthcare organizations implement a technology offered by traditional PACS IT solution providers, they have traditionally had to use the provider’s own proprietary tools (e.g., storage and viewing formats) and these systems do not allow for robust seamless integration to third-party toolsets and applications. Subsequently, healthcare facilities are left with few options but to invest in separate viewing platforms, storage and archiving infrastructures, multiple PACS solutions, AI-based analytical tools, voice recognition systems and other clinical workflow applications in a non-optimal or inefficient manner. As a result, healthcare facilities ranging from medical institutions to regional community hospitals are opting for more and more flexibility to integrate these systems with their choice of healthcare imaging solutions from their choice of vendor, without being locked into an ecosystem of tools offered by a single solution provider. This flexibility must allow for vendor agnostic, standards-based integration and connectivity to support high quality patient care and better outcomes. This is what Mach7 Technologies set out to solve, fulfilling the longstanding need of clinicians and providers for a comprehensive solution that can offer a complete and cutting-edge view of the patient—all while ensuring customer independence within a vendor-neutral ecosystem. This offers healthcare organizations across the world innovative enterprise imaging technologies with unmatched flexibility in deployment to ensure they continue to make the most of their IT investment while supporting a vast array of clinical specialties and workflows.

“We provide an aggregated view of clinicians’ data, which is archived across multiple locations, to drive better patient outcomes,” states Mike Lampron, CEO of Mach7 Technologies. Clinicians can gain operational insights into the available data by incorporating AI and analytics packages into the eUnity viewing platform and analyze the reports generated through utilization of the eUnity Diagnostic Viewer. This lowers the turnaround time for report analysis as well as improves the accuracy of radiology reports.

We provide an aggregated view of clinicians’ data, which is archived across multiple locations, to drive better patient outcomes

eUnity is Mach7’s innovative zero-footprint enterprise diagnostic viewer. Its rich clinical workflow orchestration tools are used in combination with Mach7’s powerful vendor-neutral archiving and image data management platform to help unify and standardize visualization for clinicians across the enterprise. It also helps them view complete imaging histories regardless of where images are acquired or stored and, grants access to diagnostic tools on any browser, thereby reducing technical complexity, resources, and costs.

Apart from its core functionalities, the groundbreaking platform’s flexibility is one of its prime competitive advantages. The platform can be accessed through any HTML-5 enabled web browser and can be integrated with a hospital’s existing PACS and EMR. This allows Mach7 to consolidate imaging data across the enterprise and make it accessible to all clinical users, giving physicians a 360-degree view of their patients. This includes granting clinical access to images by image-enabling the EMR. Mach7 also promotes complete customer independence by integrating its platform with a healthcare organization’s pre-existing toolsets. “We are so flexible with our customers that we can carry out custom integrations using their own toolsets to give them the workflow they desire,” adds Lampron.

Owing to the benefits of Mach7’s solutions, including continuous improvement of patient and staff satisfaction while reducing costs, it should come as no surprise that the company has implemented its advanced platform for a host of eminent customers, from large government and independent health systems to individual imaging centers, physician groups and teleradiology services providers. Lampron recalls an instance where one of their clients owning over 25 hospitals deployed Mach7’s software to migrate all the data from their legacy systems into a custom solution meant for physicians across their delivery network. “After migrating almost all the data from their legacy systems over the span of two years, we’ve now implemented the solution in conjunction with their EMR to be able to provide a level of transparency for their physicians that they’ve never had before,” states Lampron.

Envisioning the foreseeable future, Lampron wants to concentrate on the markets across Asia Pacific and North America. “Alongside touting flexibility as a hallmark of Mach7, we want to ensure customer independence to help them attain their desired results,” says Lampron. Through an unyielding focus on integration, clinical workflow, and the elimination of complexity through the development of innovative solutions, Mach7 will continue to empower healthcare organizations with the independence and advanced technologies to do more, and do better, with less.
